A BuSy DaY!!!!!

We had the funnest, yet craziest day yesterday. It started at 7 AM and ended at 11 PM!

While Bryan was in a fund-raiser golf tournament, in the morning, I curled all three girls' hair, and took all five of them to a piano rehearsal. We then came home, got into costumes, threw other costumes, baseball uniforms etc. into the Expedition, had a quick lunch, and headed south for clogging and singing performances for a city celebration!

Dallin Performed at 2:10 and had a baseball game at 2:15, I stayed with the girls, and all the boys went to the baseball game THEY WON!!

He is an awesome clogger!! I like that his teacher creates dances remembering that they are eleven year-old BOYS!! A plus to all the boys! They are fun to watch!

The girls waiting and watching Dallin!

The girls all did an awesome job clogging as well! I can't believe how well they are all getting to be! McKenzie sang with a show tunes group shortly after the clogging show. Once again, she amazed me! The group did a great job!

We all rushed home grabbed Colton from the game, changed into Sunday best and went to their piano recital! Dad and Dallin however, ran over (in his baseball uniform) played his piece, and then went to his next play-off game. Dallin hit his first home run.! McKenzie and I got there in time to see it! YAY!

We were a few minutes late to the recital (we got there, as Dallin and Bryan left) He apparently did a great job! The recital went as recitals go. The children all did well. After the recital, Bryan and I went to a wedding reception (30 miles south) and got home at 10:40 (which is VERY late for us). What a day! But, it was a fun day!

It is wonderful to know Sunday is a day of rest! Aren't we thankful for the opportunities and talents of this day! I thought about my mom a lot today. It has been two years this week, since she passed away. I think she would have been proud of her grand children. Sometimes........ I just wonder???

It was a great day!

McKenzie Sings the National Anthem During Flag Day Celebrations!!

June 14, 2008- Flag Day!!!
McKenzie was ask to sing the national anthem for the city Flag Day celebration!
It was incredible!!
I don't know how she does it, hitting those notes, with such intense acruacy, while creating emotion in her voice. Anyone who has heard her sing knows exactly what I mean.
Ever since she played Annie when she was nine years old, every time I hear her sing, my heart gets far too close to me eyes.
It was a very patriotic moment, enhanced, by our veteran grandpa, and the woman (grandma) who stood by his side through two wars (Korea and Vietnam). Thank you to both our grandpas!
I am so Proud my children have this opportunity to celebrate their patriotism, and heritage!
It was made even more divine, by sharing a talent with a beautiful future generation.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Biking aDvenTUres!!!!

Matilee learned how to ride her bicycle June 14th without any training wheels! It was a monumental event!
But as we all know, children have to out do each other, right? SO while Matilee was showing our wonderful neighbor her newly found talent;
Brindy decided she would learn what it was like to pedal her bike as fast as she could, and then crank her handle bars, into a ditch full of water.

She soon learned, that pavement is not very forgiving.

This picture actually looks significantly better than she actually looked.

Thankfully, most of the wounds are just the top layer of skin.
She was pretty brave though, and she got lots of sympathy at church the next day, because it was especially gruesome the day after!!
She is already looking great besides, even with her battle scars, she is still our sweet little Brindy!

Back from our trip

We just got back from celebrating our 19 year anniversary! Although it is not until June 22, we went a week early. It was a blast!

We always stop at Lee's Mongolian Barbeque in Ogden (our old stomping grounds). We went to a BEES game and saw Iron Man (it is better than Indiana Jones by the way). I won't diclose what happened other than that, but the hotel room was nice. When we went to breakfast,

McKenzie called and told us a fire truck was in front of our house! A main gas line had been broken!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? Fortunately one of my friends saw the fire truck, and took our children to her house until we got home.

We had a nice day and a half together, reminiscing about the last 20 years (we dated for one).

It is funny how you ask someone to dance, when you are seventeen, and you don’t realize, that you will end up spending the rest of your life with him; and nineteen years (and five children) later, you still don’t mind.

As soon as we got the children home, we had to run Brindy to achievement days, and Dallin to a baseball game(their first loss). Well, back to my wonderfully, crazy life!

Dallin is eleven!!!

I can hardly believe it has been eleven years since we lifeflighted our little baby to McKay Dee Hospital, and prayed that his lifeless body would somehow find a way to breathe. After our agonizing ordeal, we hoped he would be normal. We knew he was a gift from heaven, but had no idea how much joy he would be into our life.
Today, I took Dallin on a lunch date, and we just laughed and talked. It was fun to have one on one time with my boy. He was a funner date than most of the dates I had in high school. The date originally was to help Dallin feel better, but in the end, I think I felt the best!
Dallin thank you for always making us laugh. I never would have dreamed that day in the hospital that you could ever have brought so much joy to my life. You are worth every prayer I have ever said in your behalf.

My New Do!!

I got a new hair cut today, and can't decide if I like it or not. Just vote yes or no, I won't feel bad, because my hair grows fast. I just would like an honest second opinion. I was trying to get a hair do that looks good with my natural curl. The straightener is killing it!

Disneyland Pics Finally!

I know it isn't brain surgery, but it might as well be. I finally figured it out though! Here are our pictures (some of them) from Disneyland. I am already looking forward to going back. It is just so fun to see the children enjoying the imaginative adventures there!

Finally Disneyland Pics!!!

Summer Days.....Time to Reflect

I have been on summer vacation now for two weeks, and between baseball games, school meetings, sorting out closets, studying for Praxis tests (those of you who teach understand) and summer classes, I don't feel like I have even had time to breathe yet, but, I wanted to take a minute to give thanks to the people in my life that make every breath worth breathing.

It is funny how sometimes we go through life thinking we want to win this award or that award, finish this accomplishment or that one, but in a year or two, we often forget, even what those things meant, or even who won.

But how many of us forget the friend that helped us through the death of a loved one, or the phone call that we needed on that one day, that we thought no one else cared?

Do we forget the sister who can finish our thoughts, without us saying a word, or that we can say what we think, and know she won't rip our head off?

Or the brother in law that will never really know what he means to your sons and daughters, because he doesn't really know what he means to you?

The child that seems to know the moment you need reassurance as a mother? The husband that builds you up when the world crushes your soul? Do we forget the family members that we know we can call any time day or night?

Think about the teachers that have impacted your life? Mine don't even know who they are!

Or the aunt who really wasn't our aunt, but took the time to care for us, because she knew our hearts, and earned the title "aunt" through service not through birthright or marriage?

How about the friend that lets you vent and ramble and doesn't tell a soul?

The world the media, and even our own self, can often make us believe, that trophies and certificates make our accomplishments, but I wanted to give homage to the women and men who will never receive an award, but have made my life worth living, and made my every breath a little sweeter, by being part of my simple world. Thank you! I know who you are. I guess I am glad there are no trophies for these things, they are all so sacred and divine.

I am grateful, they are in the trophy room of my heart!
