She FINALLY Did It!! Way to go BOO!!!

Yesterday, the score was tied 1-1 with five minutes left in the game, Brindy (who has never scored) was playing forward, and took the opportunity to kick the ball with all her might into the net. You would have thought she had won the World Cup by the way Dallin was cheering. Her team won the game. She has improved so much through this season. she has the best soccer coach. Way to go Brindy We are all very proud of you! (by the way, her hair was still cute after the game......she can play hard, and still be fashionable)

Old Friends, Getting Old, and Feeling YOUNG!!

It has been twenty years since I graduated high school, so I started this last spring looking up reunions and friends for the FIVE high schools I attended and the one I almost attended.....
SIX in all. I reluctantly signed up for facebook, just a little while ago.

Two of my very best friends found me in the same week!! It is amazing how much we change, and how much we stay the same. I also found several other friends at a reunion website for one of my high schools.

My birthday is this weekend, and I will be 38. I remember my mom being 38, and thinking she was old (of course, she was a grandma by the time she was my age)! I don't feel old at all.
This is the best time of my life!

Talking to my friends made me grateful for my life, and the experiences I have had, and the early influences of good friends in my youth. I am grateful I was able to talk to them, and thank them for the example they were to me. I am a little sad we couldn't have helped each other through some of the trials, and rejoiced in the joys, of the past twenty years..............
BUT I look forward to the next twenty.

(I thought I'd add this for entertainment value.... me in 1988

How do you like my lion's mane??)

Life is great, and good friends can always pick up where they left off, without skipping a beat, even after 20+ years. I can't wait for the luncheon during Christmas break!

My Halloween Contribution......YES I am the Halloween Scrooge!!!!

I have hated Halloween since I had my treat bag stolen from me when I was eight years old. I know it is silly, I have tried not to let my emotions rub off on my children, I dress up, pretend to like it, and have even thrown some wild Halloween parties over the years.

So, I am making my contribution by decorating my blog, and trying not to be a Halloween Scrooge. So, ENJOY!

I will post costumes when we get them.

Spiritually and Physically STUFFED!

Conference was wonderful! We thoroughly enjoyed Saturday morning watching as a family. Just as the morning session ended, Bryan and I had an appointment in Logan we had to get to, so we drove to Logan listening to the last half an hour.

We didn't finish, before the second session started, and I called home, to tell the children we would be late. They said not to worry, but they needed to hurry so they wouldn't miss the beginning of the session.

I was impressed, our errands in Logan took us longer than we had planned, and we listened to what we could, but our children (who you all know are far better than we are) listened to the entire session without us!

Stephanie came over Saturday night, and spent the night. We had our traditional biscuits and gravy conference breakfast with her family, and the Despain's. It was a wonderful start to the day! I just love them!

We watched the next session, and had a big lunch, made treats for the last session, and enjoyed the treats for the last session.

Tonight, for home evening, I had the lesson. We talked about preparing to get married. I wish I would have known all this stuff as a youth! We had a nice discussion. Brindy ask how she could reserve sexual intimacy (only for a covenanted loved one)...... sure, that was the only part of the lesson her ears picked up on!!

I told her that meant she would only have special kinds of touches with her husband and no one else. Colton and Kenzie of course gave each other "THE LOOK." Dallin just giggled. I am not sure what Stephanie thought! All in all, it was a nice evening.

The Gospel gives us wonderful opportunity to talk about these things, in such a wholesome way. I just love it!

Then, we made the recipe below for dessert. It came with mixed reviews. I can not give an opinion, since I don't like chocolate. Most of my children liked it, but said it was very rich! I thought I would share it. It was fun to make.

All in all, we ate and ate and ate and ate, and conference fed our souls. I feel rejuvenated, and ready to meet the demands of another six months!

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
a small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour
in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract,
and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake
will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and
tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this
the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes
away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
