A Date with Sixteen Year-old!!

Bryan and I heard a talk years ago, that suggested before you let your 16 year-old date anyone, they should go on an official date with the opposite sex parent, and talk about dating. I had remembered this advice, and I planned on doing it. However, when Colton turned 16 in December, it kind'a seemed weird (to be honest... for both of us). But, I had committed a decade or so ago, and I really want Kenzie to do it with their dad. So finally this Saturday we went!

Can I tell you, it was one of the best ideas ever!!!! We talked about dating and girls. I was able to talk to him about things, I don't think I would have talked to him about in any other setting. It was amazing!! I learned alot!! He opened all my doors (he usually does anyway), he helped me put on my coat, and even drove the truck to Logan. It was wonderful. I don't know if this is for everyone. But, for us it was a really nice experience. Now, he is free to date other girls..... and now I know he is prepared. AAAHHHHHH!!!!!.....MAYBE!!!

Leven Thumps!

On February 4th, we had the author, Obert Skye come to our school. It was an awesome assembly.

I had already read Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo with my children, when it first came out. We really liked that one, but have had a hard time getting into the second one The Whispered Secret

Then, I bought his latest book, Pillage, I read it in less than a day (as did Colton and Kenny). It was pretty good for a children's fiction!! I can't wait for it to come to the big screen!! I just hope they don't ruin it when it does.

P.S. Since I have already broken away from the mold I will suggest a fun movie I recently saw, Bedtime Stories. It is quite creative and fun too.

But not as wonderful as Enchanted.

Romeo and Juliet!!

"Pack your Bags!!!!!"
That is all I knew about Bryan's apparently well planned out Valentine's date. He ask me to leave school on Friday ASAP. I came home, changed my clothes, packed a suitcase (bringing my Sunday clothes, so we wouldn't be late for the Stake Adult Meeting on Saturday), and off we went.
He only told me where we were going, when he knew I had already figured it out, or was about to...... I loved it!! We went to Outback Steak House for dinner... The steak was wonderful (well mine was... Bryan's was overcooked).

We stayed at the University Marriott.
We tried to sleep in, but only slept until 7:30. I wish I could sleep later. The room came with a "sweetheart's breakfast for two." It was wonderful....omelets, fruits, waffles, the best potatoes and lots more!!! We hung out at the hotel until noon. It was so nice to just BE! We went to Wendy's for a frosty (my choice) and fries.

Then, he took me back to the university for Romeo and Juliet.
It was a live production, and was pretty good. I have always thought it to be a little syrupy.... Good grief! They meet once and then are ready to get married and die for each other what kind of dysfunctional minds are that stupid??? I guess I have forgotten what it was like to be a teenager in love! At any rate, it was a reminder to put aside anger towards my fellow man, and not judge others wrongly... and most of all, to forgive lest I regret it.

Then, we had to hurry home to get to the Adult Meeting. We were 10 minutes late due to a terrible snow storm in Logan. It was well worth the drive. It was mostly reminding us to go to the temple (thank goodness we went last weekend.... less guilt).

It was a wonderful ending to a wonderful weekend. and even better, tomorrow there is no school, so now I get to spend the day with my children.
Life is Supreme!!

I am grateful for my Romeo... he may not be perfect, but he gave my a near perfect weekend... I love you Bryan... Happy Valentine's Day!!

Another Crazy Hair Day

Matilee's Class earned a crazy hair day, and she had to have it posted on the blog (especially since I posted Brindy's)!! So here it is!! She just knows everyone will think it is as fabulous as Brindy's was!! She got the fabulous Grinch shirt from a neighbor, and the bow was off a dress she wore to a wedding.

Doesn't she look proud??
